The collision caused significant damage to the horizontal concrete columns that support the counterweight of the gates, especially at gate no. 69. Irrigation officials are now carefully assessing the extent of the damage to determine the next steps.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu of Andhra Pradesh personally visited the flood-affected areas of Vijayawada to oversee the relief efforts..

He toured several severely impacted regions, including Krishnalanka, Ibrahimpatnam, Ferry, Jupudi, and Moolapadu, to evaluate the extent of the flooding. During his visit, Naidu reassured the victims, encouraging them to remain hopeful and emphasizing his commitment to supporting them through this challenging period. He also urged everyone to adhere to the safety guidelines issued by the government

Irrigation Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu shared that the boats, which were docked upstream, were unfortunately swept away by the intense flooding. He reassured everyone that irrigation officials are keeping a close eye on the situation. Repair efforts will start as soon as the expert team and Kannaiah Naidu provide their recommendations.
